Who We Are

Established in 2007, we’ve always had one clear goal: to be a home for all writers.

Our Mission

A one-of-a-kind venue in the heart of the Midlands, Nottingham Writers’ Studio is a place for people to come together; meet like-minded individuals, develop new skills, and become the best writers we can be. As well as offering workshops, courses, and networking opportunities, NWS creates annual publications open to everyone, building community and providing an opportunity for writers to see their work in print. One of our most valued events are our monthly socials, an opportunity for writers to get away from their desks and whatever corner they’ve been hiding in, to catch up, discuss their work and remind themselves they’re human. For those looking for more regular and thorough feedback we also facilitate critique groups with other members.

Whether you’re just starting out or you’ve been writing for decades, there’s a place for you here at NWS.

Recent Achievements

At NWS, we have proudly fostered a vibrant community of over 100 writers, creating a supportive environment for creativity and collaboration. Our dedication to skill-building is evident in the hundreds of workshops, talks, and events we have hosted, providing invaluable learning opportunities for writers at all levels.

We are also committed to addressing important social issues through our publications, including multiple anthologies such as Black Lives and Earth 2.0, which amplify diverse voices and perspectives.

In our mission to give back to the community, we partnered with the local food bank Himmah and the Nottz Garden Project to establish our own Free Little Library, promoting literacy and access to books for everyone. Additionally, we took a significant step in supporting the local writing scene by funding the development of a publishing directory for the East Midlands, helping writers connect with vital resources.
