The winners of the NWS/Post first short story competition were Lauren Stevenson in the over-18s category for her story Remember, and George Barratt in the 16-17 category for Life of Brian.
Judges from Nottingham Writers’ Studio and the Nottingham Post felt both winners had balanced the craft of good writing with capturing the significance of people and place in the Market Square itself. Both stories stir the reader’s emotions from the beginning to the end of the piece.
We were very impressed with the quality of entries from Nottingham residents aged 16 to over 80 – this certainly showcases the talent in this great city and further supports our desire to become a UNESCO City of Literature.
