In collaboration with the Actors Workshop Nottingham (on twitter at @theactorsnotts)and Spool Films, Nottingham Writers Studio is looking for short scripts that will be filmed and broadcast by NottsTV (on twitter at @notts_tv).
You could be one of the writers.
We’re looking for scripts no longer than 3 minutes long. That equates to 3 pages, typically. And they can feature no more than 3 characters. They’re also designed to be performed in real time by the actors – so no flashbacks or voiceovers etc, and because we’ll be using a minimal set and props, nothing on that front either.
The emphasis is on words, performance and story. You can write something heartrending or hilarious, and it can be set here and now – or in another time and place. What matters is that your script is a response to a theme – THE DEAL.
Deals are central to drama, because they’re an essential part of life. Toddlers negotiate with parents about what they will eat and what they can leave. Politicians propose solutions requiring the agreement of other parties. Couples draw the boundaries of their relationships and seek to redefine them as time goes on. One way or another, we’re all hustling for an arrangement of some sort…
Send your script to email@example.com for consideration by the team. Your chances will be enhanced by developing your skills at the workshops coming up on Sunday March 29 and Saturday April 25. All entries must be submitted by 5pm on Monday April 27.
If you’re interested in auditioning for the showcase, email firstname.lastname@example.org to book your audition – these take place at the Television Workshop, 49 Stoney Street on April 11th.
