Yes, it’s that time of year again. Spring has sprung, the lambs have leapt, the blossom has blossomed, the spring rains have reigned, and we’re nearly ready for the summertime. Every year at Nottingham Writers’ Studio we run a series of Summer Taster writing workshops. They’re short and sweet, affordable, and we have a pretty good line-up for you this year, if I do say so myself.

Writing for Short Films & Visual Media with Adrian Reynolds – Tuesday 4th July 7pm – 9pm
A practical look at how to write scripts for films, animation & comics with an experienced screen, television, and comic book writer.
How to Start a Freelance Copywriting Business with Victoria McDonagh – Tuesday 11th July 7pm – 9pm
Victoria will discuss the nuts and bolts of setting up a platform, building your portfolio and where to start looking for work.
An Introduction to Independent Journalism with Shreya Sen Handley – Saturday 22nd July 10am – 12 noon
Pitching articles, picking topics and negotiating pay. Shreya will take you through the basics to setting up as an independent journalist.
Interview Your Character with Sunita Samra – Tuesday 25th July 7pm – 9pm
Knowing your characters well is the secret to making them come to life and leap off the page, join this ingenious workshop to get to know the characters in your head.
Generating Ideas with Sarah Hindmarsh – Thursday 10th August 7pm – 9pm
Want to write or unsure who to write about? Stuck in the middle of a story with no place to go? Join Sarah, to work through idea generation techniques, tips and tricks.
Adapt Your Writing with Fiona Oliver – Tuesday 22nd August 7pm – 9pm
