We’re lucky to have secured a visit from Alfie Crow and Kate Fox on Saturday January 10th.
During the day (10am-4pm), they will lead a Comic Writing Masterclass, and in the evening (7-9pm) they’ll perform for us. Both are excellently funny writers and performers – this is not to be missed!
To book online via PayPal (you don’t need a PayPal account) for the workshop or the evening event, use the buttons below. Otherwise, contact us at Nottingham Writers’ Studio on 0115 837 2248 or at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Alfie Crow won a Northern Crime Award in 2012 and saw his thriller Rant published by new Northern imprint Moth Publishing the following year. He’s also a Bridport Prize winner, actor and director and probably the only person to apply to join MI5 on a computer at South Shields Library. He grew up in Wallsend, studied in Bangor and Bristol and now lives in North Yorkshire with his wife and cocker spaniel. He’s performed his poetry and monologues all over, most recently as part of “River Runs” a collaborative show about the River Tyne at the Live Theatre in Newcastle and Customs House, South Shields. Another collaboration has seen him team up with his wife, Kate Fox, to write a series of comic thriller novellas set during actual events. The first was the Glastonbury Festival, the second was the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. He worked for many years as a community theatre facilitator and has also worked as stage crew, a turkey inseminator, an operating theatre orderly and many other things but never a spy…or has he?
Kate Fox is a writer based in the North of England, and her vowels are flat. She loves radio for its intimacy and started off as a radio journalist. Her first news story was about a dead frog found trapped in a bag of lettuce in Whitley Bay… She often writes satirical poems for Radio 4 shows – mainly Saturday Live, a magazine style programme. She’s won awards for her poetry and poetry performances and was shortlisted for Mslexia magazine’s unpublished novel award (one of twelve out of 1800 entries). She does stand up comedy and stand up poetry and one woman shows. Her poetry collection, Fox Populi is published by Smokestack Books.
