Words for Wellbeing – restoring balance through creative expression with Samantha Gray
Beginning close to the Autumn Equinox when darkness and light are present equally, this 8-week sequence will explore how therapeutic writing can help us to achieve equilibrium.
We will use a range of literature including poems, lyrics and stories as springboards into reflection and writing, exploring the issues that make us human through a combination of expressive/creative writing and discussion. A central aim of the course is to provide a gentle and supportive space for each participant to make connections and discoveries through their own writing – the emphasis here is on our own process rather than a perfect finished product and there will be opportunities to share but no pressure.
The healing potential of both reading and writing is becoming increasingly recognised, these sessions provide tools for those who love words to build resilience, gain a sense of clarity and to connect with their creative voice. The writing techniques and prompts are accessible to all and can be integrated into a personal journal for personal growth and self-care.
